| Heading into the final week of the regular season, the Notre Dame Knights are currently sporting an unblemished 9-0 record and a #3 ranking in the recent LA Times poll. Though the Knights are in the picture to claim the top seed in the Pac-5 Division playoffs, they must first dismantle a Bishop Amat (7-2) squad fresh off a tight 22-21 victory over Crespi.

This Friday (11/14), the Bishop Amat Lancers will attempt to slow down Ryan Kasdorf and the Notre Dame offense, a daunting task for any team that has faced the Knights this season. Kasdorf is the ring leader of an offense that has averaged 38.5 points through nine games this season. He has already broke Notre Dame’s school-record for touchdown passes (30) and has thrown for 2680 yards while completing 134-of-194 (69%) passes.
Kasdorf’s high completion percentage is a tribute to his precise accuracy and efficiency as a passer. In the Knights most recent game, a 34-0 shutout of Loyola, Kasdorf converted on his first ten passes and finished 16-of-21 for 276 yards with four touchdowns and one rushing score.
On the receiving end of three of those touchdowns was senior wideout James Flynn, scoring from 42, 10, and 21 yards out. Throughout the 2008 campaign, Flynn has been the primary beneficiary of Kasdorf’s breakout season. The Knights top receiving target has tallied 43 receptions for 948 yards and a school-record 16 touchdowns.
Flynn and Kasdorf are a large reason why Notre Dame’s no-huddle offense has been so unstoppable. Following a big play, it’s common to observe Kasdorf hurrying his teammates up towards the new line of scrimmage to fire off another play before the defense has time to reset. In many cases, the ensuing play features Flynn streaking down the sideline in single coverage - often resulting in a Notre Dame touchdown.
With one game remaining in the regular season, Notre Dame has been unstoppable. However, with a potential playoff matchup with Long Beach Poly on the horizon the Jackrabbits defense (which as allowed 6.4 points-per-game) along with Corona Centennial, Mater Dei, St. Bonaventure, and many others would all welcome the challenge.
